Editorial policy
Lively Arts Journal aims to make arts writing specific, readable and open to scrutiny. We separate description from interpretation and correct the record when a material error is identified.
Accuracy and interpretation
Articles should identify what a reader can observe and explain when a point is an interpretation, inference or opinion. We check names, titles, quotations and factual claims against suitable material before publication. We do not invent details to make an explanation more persuasive, and we state uncertainty where it affects the point.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions are made separately from commercial arrangements. A payment, gift, access arrangement or other relevant connection must not buy a favourable conclusion. Sponsored or partner material is labelled clearly where it appears, and such material is kept distinct from independent editorial coverage.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error, contact us through the Contact page and identify the article and detail. We review credible, specific reports and correct material errors promptly, making the nature of a substantive correction clear in the article where appropriate. Differences of interpretation are not automatically factual errors.
Images and illustration
Images should be selected and captioned with care. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when that is the case, they are identified as AI-generated so readers are not left to mistake them for documentary images or artworks being discussed.
Attention beats automatic admiration
Creative work becomes easier to discuss when we name what it does and how it does it. Lively Arts Journal looks for choices, not secret meanings or easy verdicts.
