Write for us

We welcome pitches that help readers see how creative work is put together and what its choices make possible. A strong proposal has a clear subject, a distinct angle and a reason a general reader should care.

What we welcome

Pitch thoughtful pieces about visual art, writing, music, performance or design: explanations of a form or technique, useful comparisons, histories of a creative convention, close readings, or grounded guides to looking and listening. Keep the subject manageable and the claims proportionate to the material.

What makes a good pitch

Tell us the working title, the central question, the main idea you would develop and the likely shape of the piece. Include a short note about relevant experience or access only when it matters to the proposal. Flag any connection to the subject, proposed images or other material that may affect how the piece is presented.

How to send it

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please pitch the idea before sending a complete article. We cannot promise a reply or publication, and an accepted proposal may still need revision.

Our point of view

Attention beats automatic admiration

Creative work becomes easier to discuss when we name what it does and how it does it. Lively Arts Journal looks for choices, not secret meanings or easy verdicts.
